Man faces charges for excessive speed on New York highway

Speed limits and other traffic laws are put into place to maintain order and safety on the nation's roadways. Consequences for breaking those laws have been established to encourage motorists to drive with care. Often, those penalties can become even more severe when there is an extreme or repeated traffic violation allegation.

A man will soon appear in a New York court for allegedly breaking state traffic laws. He is facing several charges, including reckless driving and speeding. State police charged the man after he was observed driving well over the legal speed limit. The posted speed limit on the interstate was not reported, but authorities reported having clocked the man's speed at 108 mph. The man was also found to be in possession of a large amount of marijuana, but it is unknown whether he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

It has not been released what penalties authorities will seek in this case, but he could face severe consequences as a result of his excessive speed. Possible repercussions for charges like those the man is facing include fines or points on one's license, to much more serious penalties such as license suspensions/revocations or even jail sentences. Final decisions regarding the case will be determined at a hearing in the Sherman Town Court.

There can be serious consequences for breaking traffic laws. Anyone who has been charged with traffic violations may find it of benefit to obtain legal representation; an attorney can answer any questions a person has and look out for their interests.
