Extreme speed a possible factor in Queens accident

Most people are aware that driving in excess of the speed limit can have serious consequences. Those consequences, however, go beyond just possible speeding tickets. When speed is a factor in an accident, the at-fault driver could face more serious charges, and the speed provides more force, which can result in greater damage and more serious injuries.

Recently, a young man was accused of driving in excess of 100 mph prior to causing a serious accident. According to reports, the 17-year-old motorist was driving on Cross Bay Blvd. in Queens when he collided with two other vehicles. It appears that he lost control of the vehicle, possibly due to his extreme speed.

10 people were reported to have been injured in the accident. At least three had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and were listed in critical, but stable condition. It remains unknown to the public whether the driver who allegedly caused the accident sustained any injuries as a result of the accident.

Law enforcement reportedly arrested the teen following the accident. No details have been released regarding the charges he is facing or his potential consequences. Penalties for the accident and his alleged extreme speeding could include fines, license suspension or revocation, and even a possible jail sentence.

Although the charges in this case have not been released, the young man in this case may want or need to get legal counsel. Anyone who is facing significant traffic charges may find it helpful to consult with legal representation. An attorney familiar with the vehicle and traffic laws in your area can advise you of your options and answer any questions you may have throughout the process.
