New York, like all individual states in the U.S., enacts and enforces its own traffic laws. These laws are established in order to keep the roads and all those who use them safe. When motorists are charged with violating New York traffic law, the penalties can add up quickly, and, in some cases is made more severe when a driver is charged with multiple violations.
Recently in Southport, an upstate town northwest of New York City, a man was arrested and charged with numerous traffic law and vehicle violations. According to reports, the man faces charges including reckless driving, DWI, fleeing from law enforcement in a vehicle, and driving without a license, among others. The possible consequences in this case were not reported, but they could include anything from fines and points on his license to a license suspension or revocation. He could also face a possible jail sentence as a result of the charges in this incident.
The incident reportedly started after the man was observed, and unable to be stopped, speeding after leaving the scene of a domestic incident. According to reports, the man also attempted to get away from law enforcement on foot before he was apprehended and placed under arrest.
Traffic violations can result in serious consequences with lasting effects. If you have been charged with breaking New York traffic law, you may find it of benefit to consult with an attorney. Legal representation can not only answer any questions or address any concerns you may have, they can also advise you of your options and look out for your interests.
