Drinking and driving can be a dangerous game. Not only are there the physical risks posed by the threat of an accident, there is also the risk of being caught by authorities. In the event a motorist is suspected of driving under the influence, law enforcement may stop them in order to investigate further, which can have serious repercussions.
A woman in upstate New York was recently arrested for allegedly driving a school bus while under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, she had a blood alcohol level of 0.24 at the time of her arrest. It was not reported how her blood alcohol level was determined. Police typically will use a Breathalyzer, blood or urine test, field sobriety test, or a combination of these, to identify whether a driver has been drinking.
Just prior to her arrest, the woman had reportedly driven students to a summer program. Although there was not an incident and the children were no longer in the vehicle when she spoke to authorities, the woman was charged with several counts of child endangerment, in addition to DWI.
Being charged with DUI or driving while intoxicated can be very serious. Consequences range from fines, to points on your license, to license suspensions and even jail time. If you have been accused of drunk driving, it may be beneficial to obtain legal representation to help look out for your interests. An experienced attorney will be able to explain your options, as well as answer questions and address concerns that may arise throughout the process.
