DUI charge the latest for rapper

New York drivers are not able to be pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs. However, if a driver is caught speeding, running a red light or clearly violating any other traffic law, he or she can be pulled over. Once stopped by an officer, a driver can be asked to undergo testing for possible DUI or DWI within certain parameters of the law.

Such was the case for rapper Jim Jones who was recently stopped for speeding and then later arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. This latest incident is not the first of Jones’ brushes with the law as he has also been arrested for obstruction and disorderly content earlier this year.

In 2012, Jones was arrested for driving with a suspended license and was also involved in an incident in which a law enforcement officer was assaulted, resulting in Jones paying a fine. In the latest situation for Jones, he failed a field sobriety test and is believed to have been under the influence of marijuana at the time he was stopped. The article did not indicate if Jones will serve jail time or is schedule to appear in court for his recent arrest.

When arrested for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, a person may be wise to work with an experienced DUI or DWI attorney. There are many laws governing these charges and they can at times provide valuable ways to help an accused person.
