Speeding, two DWI counts face celebrity’s mom after arrest

New Yorkers, like their counterparts around the country, face ever-increasing crackdowns on drunk driving. Public opinion about the topic has remained passionate and high for decades and continues to be the case. The consequences for a DWI arrest, let alone a conviction, can be serious and affect a driver for many years depending upon the circumstances.

The media is quick to report on any celebrities arrested for driving while intoxicated. That also includes family members of celebrities, such as in a recent news story. The mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, Dina Lohan is one of the latest to be in the media DWI spotlight. She is currently facing a court date after receiving three separate traffic tickets, including two counts of driving while intoxicated.

Stopped by police around 11:00 p.m. on New York’s Northern State Parkway, Lohan received a ticket for speeding after being clocked at a speed 22 miles per hour over the posted limit. Blood alcohol tests administered showed her BAC to be more than double the legally allowed amount at .20. Police arrested her and charged her with one count of aggravated DWI and another count of DWI. She remains out of jail while awaiting her court appearance.

Whether it is a DWI, DUI or DWAI, drivers arrested and charged with any of these violations can face serious complications. High fines, license suspensions and more can result and the consequences can be more severe in the case of repeat charges. If you have been arrested for DWI or DUI, you may wish to get legal counsel to learn how best to fight your charges and reduce the impact on you.
