Traffic Ticket Points System
Most traffic violations carry violation points. Points will be added to your driving record using the date that your violation occurred, not the date you were found guilty. If your violation points in any 18 month period total 11 or more, your license may be suspended or revoked.
Remember that the point system is not the only reason for a driver license suspension or revocation. There are mandatory suspensions or revocations. For example, the DMV must revoke your driver license if you are convicted of three speeding violations and/or misdemeanors within an 18-month period.
Your license will be suspended for failure to answer a summons, failure to pay a summons or failure to pay a fine.
