Tour bus driver charged with DUI in New York

When drivers in New York are involved in traffic accidents, investigations may be initiated in order to determine the causes of them. Sometimes, arrests are made by police at accident scenes depending upon the circumstances. This may often happen if drunk driving or other related offenses are believed to have been involved.

For some drivers, an arrest for driving under the influence may not always be related to the use of alcohol. A 58-year old New Jersey man was recently arrested and charged with a DUI offense but reports indicate that it is not yet known what substance may have caused the alleged impairment. Authorities are expected to conduct investigations in order to learn more. The man was arrested after an accident happened that left 14 pedestrians injured due to a traffic light post that fell.

The arrested driver was operating a two-level tour bus near Times Square. Sources say that this bus hit another two-level bus and also an SUV in addition to the traffic signal post. No injuries were sustained by passengers in either of the two buses or in the SUV. Speed was reportedly a factor according to a witness report but that has not been confirmed by authorities.

Because of the seriousness of consequences that people who are convicted of DUI, DWI or DWAI charges face, the investigation and defense process is very important. Obtaining accurate information and the right legal help from an experienced attorney can make a big difference in the outcome of such cases.
