Singer Avoids Conviction in DUI Case

|

People who have received traffic tickets can sometimes feel that they have no chance of defending against any charges. This can be the case whether the incident involved speeding, running a red light, driving while intoxicated or something else. However, a proper defense is the right of anyone accused of these actions and there are times that charges can be dropped or convictions avoided.

Pop star Justin Bieber and rapper Khalil provide two recent examples of this in action. The pair was arrested earlier this year in Miami when they were allegedly racing each other. Bieber was driving a yellow Lamborghini and a Khalil was driving a red Ferrari. Bieber was arrested for operating a vehicle with an expired driver’s license as well as on a DUI charge.

A recent decision has indicated that Bieber entered a guilty plea for reckless driving and the drunk driving and expired license charges will be dropped altogether. He will not go to court, will have no probationary period and his record will have no trace of the incident. He will, however, be required to pay a fine and attend a series of anger management courses. Khalil will also pay a fine but does not need to attend classes. His record will also proceed without the incident mentioned after his fine has been paid.

This example should give hope to anyone who has been arrested and charged with DUI, DWI or other related crimes. Talking to an attorney after this type of arrest may be a way to get help and avoid a conviction.
